The Book Room

The Book Room, located off of the Fellowship Hall, is a wonderful ministry that endeavors to supply materials beneficial for:

• The Study of God’s Word
• Preparation for and follow-up to the preaching of God’s Word
• Supplementary study for home fellowship groups and Sunday School classes
• Missionaries and other friends nearby or far away
• Just about anything else happening in life
• Encouragement and edification, expanding your knowledge and understanding in: Family, Marriage, Training Children, Fellowship, Worship, Discipleship, Evangelism, History, Counseling, Missions, Apologetics, Devotions, Biographies, Ecclesiology, etc.

It is encouraging to know that The Book Room has been able to provide books for missionaries, people in jails and prisons, friends and family in far away places. I hope you all will continue to keep others like this in mind when using The Book Room as a resource for ministry. Much time is spent trying to find the lowest cost for the materials in The Book Room. If you ever come across a book at a lower expense anywhere at all, please let us know so we can make materials even more accessible. Much time is also spent researching new titles, authors, publishers and distributors. If you would like to suggest a title, please feel free. It may or may not get incorporated, but we would still like to hear your suggestions, some of which we are sure will be very helpful.

How to Use The Book Room

It is a self service “store” so you will need to help us keep it operating smoothly by following a couple of basic guidelines. You will notice a white sticker on the cover of the books. On it is printed the cost to the ministry for the book (give or take 25 cents). If you would like to take a book, please be sure to take off the sticker and stick it on one of the sheets of paper hanging there provided for that purpose.

Whether you give $0.50 or $50 for a book, please be sure to take the sticker off of the cover and stick it on one of the sheets posted. This is how we keep track of inventory, more or less. Please deposit any money you may be giving for the materials in The Book Room in the money box. Checks can be made out to Grace Bible Church.

If you feel you can’t afford something, give what you can. We understand that not everyone can afford to buy the books that they would really like in order to help them or a friend or family member with something (life, salvation, doctrine, family matters, etc.). We praise the Lord that this is a ministry to the church body, and we don’t want the use of the materials at The Book Room to be a financial burden for anyone. Also remember that you may not need to spend any money at all if you utilize the Resource Center/Library which is located upstairs in the church office.

Recommended Titles

A recent development is the posting of recommended titles. We are now putting this in a binder which will be kept in The Book Room and the Resource Center/Library. It is still in its fledgling stages, but stay tuned as it increases and improves. The binder has descriptions of the titles and the Tables of Contents. There is a simple listing of titles below as well (coming soon…). The books are recommended by either elders or other teachers in the body. Most of these titles have been recommended in relation to the ministries of the pulpit, Grace Period, The Youth GroUp, Sunday School, or Community Groups. The titles listed may or may not be immediately available in The Book Room. Also, they may have not been ordered, or may have been ordered and are coming in soon. Ordering Information

To order a title that isn’t presently in The Book Room, please fill out an Order Request Form (hanging on the face frame in the center of the shelves) and be sure it gets to Dale Sigmundson or The Book Room worker. Or you can order by email. If you order by email, please be sure to give the quantity, title, author and any other information you think may be pertinent. Please be sure to check with on Sundays for your book. Usually books will arrive approximately 2 – 3 Sundays after you place your order. If you would like it sooner, Dale can do that if you are willing to pay the extra shipping cost. Email orders to books@gbcph.org.
