Here We Stand: Celebrating the Reformation

Does the Protestant Reformation still matter?

American philosopher George Santayana famously said: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” While this is not a biblical statement, there is much truth to this saying.

When the people of Israel forgot their past disaster followed. In many ways the Evangelical church has forgotten its doctrinal roots and this has led to many negative consequences as well. Whenever the people of God lost their way it was a return to the fundamental truths of redemption that caused them to regain their footing. This has been true both in biblical history and in church history and the Protestant Reformation is the key moment of recovery in church history.

It is in this spirit that we are jointly sponsoring a conference celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Let's re-examine the doctrinal foundations of the Five Solas:

Sola Scriptura - Sola Gratia - Sola Fide
Solus Christus - Soli Deo Gloria

As we do, let us stand together and celebrate the recovery of the gospel!
